Consultation is a way of developing more effective collaboration between teachers and support professionals.

  • The Consultation Project aims to help support professionals and teachers work together better, in order to solve teacherís problems (learning & behaviour) where they occur, e.g. to promote inclusion.
  • The Consultation Course in April 2005 aims to teach theory and skills and to develop understanding for both teachers and a wide range of support professionals such as psychologists, pedagogists, counsellors and support for learning and/or behaviour support teachers.

A Pre-Course Reader has been edited, with recent and relevant information about:

  • The underlying principles of consultation
  • Psychological models supporting these principles
  • Methods of doing consultation
  • What happens during a consultation meeting
  • Issues concerning the implementation of a consultation approach.
